Paul’s Mentorship Program

I began mentoring other men informally over 30 years ago, thinking I might take a more formal approach when I was much older and wiser. At the age of 57, I was diagnosed with neck cancer and told I might only have 3 years to live. That changed everything.

My Goals for this Blog

My goal is to be transparent with you. Sharing my areas of struggle as well as areas that have worked well. What I’ve learned the hard way and what I’ve been gifted to know.

Paul’s perspective on mentoring

Accolades and Testimonials

In going through Paul’s program I was able to see things from a very unique perspective. I became aware of areas in my life where I was lacking true alignment and more importantly, learn how to make adjustments to address it. In addition to focusing on making decisions in my life with true alignment and a priority on God’s kingdom I became aware of the importance of planning and preparing for life’s most important events. I am grateful for Paul and his willingness to open up and share his journey and amazing life lessons. Paul is one of the most purposeful, generous and faithful men I have ever meet. I’m proud to say his program made a positive life awakening impact in my life.

In my life I had mentors in business (President’s and VP’s)  and mentors at Church (i.e. Pastors and my Dad), but rarely a combined perspective.  I felt my unique challenges of being a follower of Jesus Christ, Husband, Dad with young kids, and business owner may not be relatable to others.  I was praying for more Paul’s in my life who had walked this road successfully.  It’s not easy to find a Paul as the leader taking on this role pour’s a significant investment of time  into other’s lives.  Paul’s ministry is meeting this need, providing community with other Christian entrepreneurs who are in the same season of life.  God uses this ministry to have  “Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens a friend's character.”  Proverbs 27:17

The journey over a year has been very impactful, I now have a binder of resources on life topics from Paul’s life lessons founded on biblical principles, Paul helped us to create habits of being intentional monthly to get in community, and gaining lifelong Christian business owner friends.  I have been blessed, and thankful to be part of Paul’s mentor ministry.

Paul is an incredible mentor and any leader will benefit from sitting under his leadership. What drew me to follow him most was his ability to lead a successful business and simultaneously raise a family that to this day adores and cherishes him. Every topic we addressed was constantly balanced with work life balance and I will continue to turn back to his material in the years to come as I lead my business and raise my own family. The questions Paul poses of “What is Enough?” really made me consider where I want to end up and what my real goals in life. I appreciate him dealing with tough issues and not holding back on the points that are life changing when you really apply them.

A life well lived. Isn’t that what we want God to say to us when we arrive in heaven? Well, after a year and half of mentoring under Paul I have a lot more clarity on what that really means. I’ve never been a part of a program so holistic that so easily morphed our spiritual lives, business ambitions and family responsibilities. Did I mention that we even covered travel tips and how to date your wife? It was so fun and also so real. Each session was spiritual, organized, efficient, egalitarian and impactful. I cannot overemphasize how strongly I would encourage anybody who’s given the opportunity to be mentored by Paul.

Paul represents that person in your life who mentors, leads, and directs you. This is the man who comes along side you to disciple you along the road of faith and life. This is someone who has traveled further down the road of faith and life than you. This man doesn’t have to be a great deal older than you, but it probably ought to be someone who has walked faithfully with God long enough and far enough for you to profit from his wisdom – his reflected-upon experience, study of God’s Word, etc. And it usually is the case that, though not exclusively so, this man will be older than you as well. But, as I said, sometimes this simply means, “older in the faith.”  Such men in our lives are gifts from God. And we have the blessed opportunity to be such a gift to other men.

I want to thank you and affirm that you have been a blessing to my wife, me, and our children.  What I learned in your mentorship program has blessed us.

One example of that was this past week when we finally presented our children with the “Kids Expense Letter.”  They had a good response and appreciated having clear goals and financial boundaries outlined to navigate their futures.  All three of our kids have individually saved well and are tithing well.  We are so proud of what God is doing in their lives.

Thank you so much for sharing these. They offered some profound nuggets. So much so that I had my wife, Ann, read them so we could incorporate them into our family life. The world will be a better place because of your blog.
